Google+, the new social network by Google is still in it's infancy. Yet, at just 3 weeks old, the user base is growing in leaps and bounds. As is often the case with new sites and networks, the early adopters are leading the charge. This has helped spur interest and buzz around the web and from media outlets.
Early on, the number of users was quite impressive, but today it hit a milestone that was much higher than possibly even what Google might have anticipated. After just 2 weeks, Google+ has over 10 million users. Also, keep in mind that this is while the site is not even open to everyone for registration. The site is still in private, closed beta. People must have an invite to signup. Therefore, this growth is even more phenomenal considering that fact.
